Amirhossein Takian is a general practitioner (GP) by training. He holds PhD in Health Policy and Health Services Research from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), University of London. In September 2011, he took up the Lectureship in Health Policy & Health Services Research at the School of Health Sciences and Social Care, Brunel University London. He was NHIR-funded Research Fellow at the Department of Practice & Policy, the UCL School of Pharmacy, Feb 2009-Sep 2011. Amir was a lead researcher in the national evaluation of the implementation and adoption of electronic health record (EHR) systems in the English hospitals. This collaborative/multi centre study was a mixed method evaluation of the most expensive civil information technology (IT) deployment ever undertaken globally. Amir is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK 2012; a member of National Academy of Medical Sciences, Iran (2012); a member of advisory group in Health Information Technology, AcademyHealth, USA 2010, and editor of health policy section for the International Journal of Health Policy and Management 2013.
